Nextfour’s design team consists of four talented designers and engineers. Here’s an introduction to these design professionals who bring your vision alive.

Mika

Chief Mechanical Designer

What does your job include?

I’m a creative mechanical designer who likes to push design boundaries and find the most innovative and simplest design solutions for new products. I´m leading our talented design team and we are continuously challenging each other to design more in the Lean-way.

How did you end up working at Nextfour?

I have two decades of experience in product development, from creating and concepting to finalizing products in low and high mass productions. My experience is gathered from many sectors e.g. industrial design, mobile, medical and start-up companies. I joined Nextfour Design due to my desire to develop high quality products and distribute them quickly to the market.

Outside of work

In my free time I exercise outdoors with my dogs and go mountain biking. I also play different sport games in real and virtual fields.

Ville

Senior Mechanical Designer

What does your job include?

My main tasks are in mechanical design and development of new products. I enjoy perfecting fine details of a design as well as making quick and dirty prototypes in our workshop to experiment with new ideas.

How did you end up working at Nextfour?

With my education background in discipline-free product development, I was drawn to Nextfour due to the company’s varied project portfolio, vibrant atmosphere that supports idea exchange, and the opportunity to be present in all steps of a product development process from concept generation to production.

Outside of work

I enjoy exploring the outdoors both by foot and by traveling with my project car. I am fascinated by science and the design of everyday things, of which I learn by listening to various podcasts on the topic.

Andrew

Senior Mechanical Designer

What does your job include?

As a mechanical engineer I design, research, develop, manufacture, and test: machines, enclosures, optical setups, tools, and other mechanical devices. In addition, I create subparts prototypes by using a turning lathe, CNC-milling machine, hand tools and 3D-printers with the further assembly of prototypes.

How did you end up working at Nextfour?

I was working in different companies as a mechanical engineer to become good enough for Nextfour Group. In particular, it was for aviation and flight-navigation companies, and for industrial automation with process control and embedded systems. Finally, the CEO offered me the position of the mechanical engineer here in Turku along with a sailboat as a bonus… and here I am! 🙂

Outside of work

Of the current active hobbies I’ll mention sailing, photography, and “babysitting” of my hamster.

Niklas

UI/UX Designer / Industrial Designer

What does your job include?

My responsibility as a UI/UX designer at Nexfour is creating user centric designs for digital user interfaces, such as mobile and web applications, or device displays. In my work I utilize user research, wireframes and interactive UI prototypes, to evaluate and validate designs.

How did you end up working at Nextfour?

I have always been fascinated by digital products and user interfaces. With my background in industrial and graphic design, UI/UX feels like a natural extension, where I can utilize my skills from both fields.

Outside of work

Along my UI/UX designer role, I do industrial and graphic design for Nextfour’s projects. On the side I also work as a freelance graphic designer doing illustrations, logo designs and such. On my free time I draw design inspiration from video games, music, and outdoors activities.
